Tycoon-ism: “Just living is not enough. One must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower.” - Hans Christian Anderson

In this race we call life it is much too easy for us to closet ourselves in our daily routines and hope that we can reach enough of our goals. All too often the demands of our lifestyles may preclude us from appreciating what we have and instead focus on what we lack. Hence we are fooled in believing that we can never start to enjoy anything unless we have achieved or acquired what others have done or bought. We become slaves of our ambitions instead of us mastering our life. It is important that we learn to balance our activities in such a way as to allow ourselves the chance to clear our minds, at least enough for us to chart our destination. Start spending more time to relax and take a breather. More time to pause and think of where you’re going instead of just heading your way just because you’ve always done it that way.

Thankful Thursday

Tycoon-ism: “I believe life is to be lived, not worked, enjoyed, not agonized, loved, not hated.” - Leland Bartlett

We are a people blessed with every conceivable wealth that man has come up. Back then, more than a hundred years ago it was different. The frontier as it was known was no means as hospitable as modern day America. People were supposed to go and make a name for themselves in uncharted regions with unknown dangers. It is amidst this challenging situation that our ancestors thrived. This spirit of achievement is now so deeply entrenched in our culture. We are a very competitive people. And we have prospered as a result. Their secret is not that they were strong; anyone could have done what they have done. Nor was it intelligence, for we know some of our past leaders made some wrong turns. Their secret is no secret in truth. It was because ancestors, by the whole, were very passionate about what they believed in. This made it easy for them to make hard decisions.
